Man arrested in armed sex assault, home invasion "Police said Freeman, 29, allegedly entered the home, possibly using a kitchen window, and used a meat cleaver and a knife to threaten the woman and then forced her to perform sex acts. Freeman also held a knife to the woman's 5-month-old son and threatened to kill him if she did not comply, police said."

Woman's life saved when gun jams "Deputy Jodi Shupe said a 911 dispatcher received a call from the apartment and could hear a woman talking in the background"

""She told them he put a .22-caliber revolver to her head and threatened to kill her and then himself," Shupe said. "But when he pulled the trigger, the gun jammed. He then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed himself in the neck".

The woman said he then forced her and their 2-year-old child into his vehicle. She was driving and managed to talk him into going to the hospital."

Man Accused Of Pulling Gun On Wife, Children "Shelly Vineyard reported she was holding her 22-month-old daughter and the hand of her 4-year-old daughter when Aaron Vineyard pulled up in his vehicle and pointed a gun at them, a sheriff's report states. She previously was issued a domestic violence injunction against Vineyard, which allows contact only pertaining to child-rearing issues but prohibits violence."  (April 7, 2004 - FL)
Police shoot gunman dead outside Henderson elementary school "Deputy Henderson Police Chief James White said the gunman went through the campus looking for his ex-girlfriend, but did not find her. Officials said she was at the school picking up a child.

"A woman really scared for her life was screaming that her ex had just shot and killed her friend," said Dave Epperson, a Galloway teacher who said he saw the woman in the hallway. "She was really scared and said he was coming to kill her too. We were both very scared"."  (January 21, 2004 - NV)

Foulston: Knifing was self-defense "After about three weeks of threatening phone calls from her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend, Ajalene Wilson, 19, had taken to carrying a kitchen knife in her car for protection.

Then last week, at a crowded QuikTrip in the middle of the afternoon, the other woman, 24-year-old TemekaBryant, attacked Wilson, authorities said.

Wilson fought back, pulling out the knife she carried. Swiping blindly at Bryant, Wilson stabbed her three times.

Security video recorded the scene on tape, and Sedgwick County District Attorney Nola Foulston ruled Friday that Wilson killed Bryant in self-defense."  (April 17, 2003 - KS)

Man sought in break-in, rape attempt "DuPage County sheriff's police are searching for a man accused of breaking into a" condo "early Monday in an unincorporated area near Willowbrook and trying to rape a 27-old-year woman, authorities said.

Sheriff John Zaruba said that a man entered the building in the 9S000 block of Lake Drive shortly after midnight Sunday and attacked the woman. He said the woman fought off her assailant, fled the room and called police." ...

Kansas Woman Reports Abduction, Assaults "The woman told authorities she was surprised in her home Wednesday morning and raped at knifepoint there. She said the man then forced her into her car, drove her into Iowa and raped her again there.

    The "Dubuque girls' high school tennis coach and Cub Scout leader was jailed Tuesday on charges that he suffocated his two young children and stabbed his estranged wife several times in the chest.

    Michael Walker, 38, described by friends as a well-liked family man, admitted to police that he killed his daughter and son, ages 9 and 8, in his apartment Monday evening, court records show. Police said he then walked two blocks to his wife's apartment and tried to kill her with a knife." ...

    "Neighbors on Tuesday reported hearing a woman's voice pleading from inside Karen Walker's apartment.

    "The first time it was, 'Oh, please don't do this'," said Kathy Kane, who lives in the apartment below Karen Walker's. Kane then heard screaming and crying.

    Man charged with assault of his wife "A Northwest Side man was charged Monday night with kidnapping and raping his estranged wife just months after he was released from prison for a similar attack against her two years ago, police said.

    On Sunday night, Jorge Gonzalez, 25, was riding with his wife, 22, in the back seat of a car driven by her 19-year-old sister when he said he had a gun and ordered the sister to pull over and get out"...

    Coed-Slash Attack "A college student on Christmas break was slashed in the face early yesterday at a downtown subway station after she left a "Girls Night Out" show at the Webster Hall nightclub."...

    Woman abducted, beaten "Police are looking for the former boyfriend of a Monroe woman who was abducted from her home at gunpoint and severly beaten Monday.

    Shortly after midnight Monday, two armed men wearing gloves and masks broke through a bedroom window at the John Deere Road home of Tara Susan Tarbush, 19. The men held Tarbush's parents at gunpoint and abducted her."

    "Tarbush had a temporary protective order against Garrick, who was charged in October with battery and attempted feticide after allegedly assaulting Tarbush."

    Woman unable to recall attack "It was an attack that anyone would want to forget, but police are hoping a woman's memory of a predawn sexual assault Monday morning will improve in the days to come.

    The 24-year-old victim was attacked at gunpoint in the Inverrary Village apartments in the 2900 block of Northwest 56th Avenue. Police said the early hour, the darkness of the room and the suddenness of the attack combined to prevent the woman from immediately offering any useful description of the man."  (December 30, 2002 - FL)

    "There are no leads and no suspects at this time. Police say it's very early in the investigation. The attack happened at 4 AM Sunday morning. The woman was only able to give police a vague description of the man who robbed and raped her. Her attacker was wearing dark clothing and he kept his head and face covered when he broke into the home."

    New attack arrest for 'Radio Cop' "A city cop who was acquitted of criminal charges after he killed a fleeing suspect by hurling his police radio at him was busted over the weekend for attacking his girlfriend, police said.

    Officer Craig Yokemick allegedly smashed the woman's head against a counter after pushing his way into her home in Mahopac in Putnam County on Saturday.

    The woman was released after treatment at a local hospital, and Yokemick was freed on $30,000 bail after being busted on charges of assault, burglary and criminal mischief."

    Deputy fatally shoots teen after rape of clerk "Dennie said Green entered the 24-hour Sunoco at 7091 Park Blvd., between 3 and 3:30 a.m., armed with a revolver. He robbed the clerk and, after she gave him money, he ordered her to take off her clothes.

    Green then jumped over the counter and pulled the clerk into a nearby hallway, where he raped her, police say.

    When Deputy Gerald Creaser arrived, he followed the clerk's screams to the hallway. Dennie said Green then pointed his gun at Creaser. The deputy fired four shots, and three hit the teenager." (December 14, 2002 - FL)

    Suspect arrested in GSU assaults "Georgia State University police arrested a
    23-year-old Decatur man Monday (January 7, 2003) in connection with a December sexual assault of two female students in a school dormitory. 

    Ruben Fortune was charged with two counts of aggravated sodomy and five counts of kidnapping after police established a forensic link through the GBI's DNA databank. 

    Fortune, who worked for UPS, is also a suspect in other sexual assaults involving college students, including an April attack at the State University of West Georgia in Carrollton, authorities said today."...

    "Five women, three of them residents, were in the suite at the Sparta dormitory on Dec. 2 when a man, armed with a knife, knocked on the door around 2:45 p.m.

    One of the students opened the door and the intruder forced his way in, police said.  He tied up three of the women with a phone cord and sexually assaulted the other two before running down a nearby stairway, Mullis said.

    Woman Attacked In Home, Suspect May Be Serial Rapist "The attack occurred about 1 a.m. Thursday near Stearns Street and Lakewood Boulevard, said Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.

    "A woman in her 30s woke to find a male intruder in her residence," Pratt said. "A physical fight erupted between the two. Fortunately, she was able to fight him off and was able to actually flee the residence."

    The woman was taken to the hospital, Pratt said. It was unclear if she was sexually assaulted."  (November 7, 2002 - CA)

    Man shoots Lawrence woman in her home "Police said a 31-year-old woman was asleep in her home when she heard someone knocking at her door. She went to the door and the man entered the home, police said.

    Pattrick said the man attempted to sexually assault the woman, and when she resisted, he shot her three times in the head and neck area.

    The victim was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital and then transferred by ground ambulance to a Kansas City-area hospital. Authorities said she was in critical condition this afternoon."  (November 5, 2002 - KS)

    "Mr. Burton is accused of choking the woman, then jamming a blunt object to her throat as she slept in her friend's van in the parking lot of the Burger King at 1454 Main St., said Hamilton Police Lt. Gregory Dininger.

    As Mr. Burton was on top of the victim, cutting her, the woman's female friend returned to the van and yelled for him to stop, according to police. The victim managed to get out of the van and escape with her friend.

    Frisco Woman Assaulted During Apparent Burglary "On Friday, October 11, 2002, at about 8:45 am, Frisco Police and Fire units were dispatched to an Injured Person call in the 7700 block of Parkbrook Drive. On arrival, officers and paramedic personnel located a 42-year old female with a head injury.

    During the initial investigation, officers were able to determine that the victim was inside her home and was confronted by an apparent burglar. The suspect struck the victim in the head with a blunt object and left her inside the residence."  (October 11, 2002 - TX)

    Granville County Woman Assaulted, Mobile Home Set On Fire "Authorities say the wife of a Vance County deputy was assaulted Thursday morning in her mobile home on Dorsey Road, located 6 miles east from Oxford. 

    "We did have a victim that had been assaulted when she came home this morning after taking her children to school by two black males," said Granville County Sheriff David Smith.

    Authorities said the men then intentionally set the mobile home on fire. Authorities say the woman suffered injuries from the assault, but she was able to escape the fire."

    "A Hempfield man who had been accused of brutally beating and trying to kill an ex-girlfriend is free, following his alleged victim's refusal to testify against him, WTAE's Marcie Cipriani reported Friday.

     Police said Sean Earl Ray, 34, dragged the 34-year-old woman into his third-story home in the Hempfield Heights Apartments on Oct. 3. According to a police affidavit, Ray punched the woman in the face, struck her in the back and legs and said she would experience "a slow and painful death."

    The woman escaped by jumping from Ray's balcony, police said. She was found on the ground with her clothes torn, suffering from multiple fractures and contusions, police said.

    The woman showed up at a preliminary hearing Friday, but took the stand only to say she did not want to testify. She did not explain the reason for her decision."

    Woman attacked with toy gun - After woman tried to hide, man attempted to set her on fire "A man armed with a toy pistol attacked an 89-year-old woman in her Buffington Street home Thursday night, and attempted to set her on fire.

    According to reports from the Huntington Police Department, the woman was watching television in her home Thursday night when a man used force to break through her front door."

    Knife-Wielding Attacker Assaults Ithaca Woman "A woman was assaulted Aug. 21 on the corner of N. Tioga St. and Cascadilla Ave. by a white male assailant.  The man, carrying a knife, cut the woman, according to a City of Ithaca Police Department (IPD) news release." 

    "According to the IPD, the assailant threw the woman to the ground and attempted to rape her. When she screamed, neighbors came out of their houses to investigate. At that point the assailant ran from the scene."

    Woman attacked, robbed at west side RTA rapid station "A woman was robbed and beaten last Tuesday in broad daylight at a west side RTA rapid station.

    Michele Billy Michele Billy was about to take her first ride ever on an RTA rapid. She was waiting at the West 65th and Madison station at 9 a.m. when a man grabbed her from behind and dragged her underneath the platform.

    "He just started punching me in the face and told me to shut up," said Billy. "I thought he was going to kill me."

    The rapid station has an emergency call box, but it wasn't of much help to Billy who was more than thirty feet away, underneath the platform, lying on a bed of gravel, fighting for her life."

    Cumberland County Woman Attacked

    "Nellie Wood, 85, thought she was safe in her Grays Creek's home. Family and friends were always checking on her, but that was not enough to prevent a violent attack in her home.

    "Her daughter came over to check on her and found her on the floor of her bedroom. She was covered with blood and severely injured," said Lt. Sam Pennica, of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. 

    Investigators say Wood was stabbed several times and the motive was robbery. They say the thief entered the house by breaking a piece of glass out of the front door."

    Woman assaulted near Riverfront boat ramp "A woman making her way home at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, reported being sexually assaulted near the boat ramp at Harris Riverfront Park on 12th Street.

    The victim reported her clothes were ripped from her body, and she was forced to have
    intercourse with the attacker.

    The victim was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Prior to being taken to the hospital, the victim told police she knew her attacker.
